John F Kennedy

John F Kennedy

The President Kennedy photograph, used in the design of the cover for The 63 Steppes, was sourced from Wikimedia Commons website. It is a White House Photo listed as “Looking Up,” and is assigned public domain status.

Prints of a black and white image of the President were painted with UV paints of the three primary colours red, blue and yellow for the head inclined to the left. These prints were then re-photographed under long wave UV conditions followed by printing to give the final A3 sized images. This allows the UV effect to be viewed under normal reflective lighting conditions.

JFK - Bradford Science Festival

The transparency images were painted with UV paints, in the same way as the prints, followed by laminating and sticking to transparent acrylic sheets. The image shows a compilation of a Kennedy and Queen’s head together with the Bradford Science Festival sign. The left had side of the image was illuminated with tungsten and UV light and the right hand side by UV light only.
